Hoops For Hunger Was A Huge Success!
ImpactLives & the MN Lynx partnered together for this community initiative. We had people from all over the state of MN & surrounding area’s join us for 2 fun-filled days as we were able to pack 285,000 meals! We also had over 900 volunteers that gave up some of their precious time to come to the Target Center to help out.
Candice Wiggins, Nicky Anosike, Renee Montgomery & Coach Gillom of the MN Lynx participated in the events. Nicky Anosike is the honorary ambassador for this event. Several of the MN Lynx & Timberwolves staff, along with representatives from Target, Sam’s Club & several other businesses, organizations, & churches were also able to join us.
The energy in the room was very contagious as we all worked together towards a common goal: helping to end world hunger. Not only did people come out and pack food, but they helped to save other people’s lives! It’s amazing to witness what can be accomplished when people make a sacrifice on behalf of someone they will never meet!
The food will be going to Nigeria, to help support the orphanage & AIDS clinic run by Art & Dorothy Helwig with Nicky Anosike being the honorary ambassador of this event. Edinbrook church of Brooklyn Park, MN along with their pastor, Ivan Veldhuizen and members from their congregation took part in packing the food and will be involved in assisting Art and Dorothy to get the food into the hands of the people in Nigeria.
We are so grateful to every single person who helped out in one capacity or another, whether it was through helping to set-up for the event, packing the meals, running around with fresh ingredients, washing dishes, escorting volunteers, or helping to pay for the cost of the food! We couldn’t have done it without your help!
